Using Templates

Reference a template type in your prompt to get started quickly:

"Create a monthly budget template with income and expense categories, following best practices for personal finance tracking."

"Generate a project management template with Gantt chart, task list, and resource allocation sections."

"Create a sales dashboard template that I can populate with my own data. Include placeholders for monthly targets and actuals."

Tip
Templates come pre-formatted with professional styling. You can request customizations to match your brand colors or preferences.

Custom Designs

Beyond templates, Viete can create custom designs based on your specifications:

  • Custom color schemes and branding
  • Specific layout and structure requirements
  • Industry-specific formatting standards
  • Unique calculation logic and formulas

"Create a custom dashboard with a dark color scheme. Use navy blue as the primary color and include our company metrics: revenue, customer count, and churn rate. Make it presentation-ready."

Save Your Own Templates

Any Excel model in Viete can be saved as a template for future use—unlimited templates, no restrictions:

How Template Saving Works

1. Create or Upload Model

Generate a model with Viete AI, or upload an existing Excel file you want to use as a template.

2. Refine the Model

Work on the model until it's exactly how you want your template to be: perfect structure, formatting, formulas, and placeholders.

3. Save as Template

Click "Save as Template" at any time. Give it a descriptive name (e.g., "Q1 Client Report Template", "Weekly Budget Tracker").

4. Reuse Unlimited Times

Your saved template is now available whenever you create new models. Start from your template instead of from scratch.

From Viete-Generated Models

Create a model with Viete, refine it until perfect, then save as template. The structure, formulas, and formatting become reusable for similar future projects.

From Uploaded Files

Upload your existing Excel files, work on them in Viete, and save them as templates. Your proven models become reusable starting points.

Tip
Save as many templates as you need—there's no limit. Build a comprehensive template library for all your common spreadsheet needs: client reports, internal analysis, budgets, dashboards, and more.

Template Use Cases

Client Deliverables

Create a perfect client report once, save as template. Every new client project starts from the same professional template—just populate with client-specific data.

Recurring Analysis

Monthly financial analysis that follows the same structure? Build it once, save as template, reuse every month with fresh data.

Department Standards

Create templates for department-standard reports. Everyone uses the same structure, ensuring consistency across the organization.

Using Templates with Automation & Workflows

Templates can be integrated into automated processes for consistent, repeatable outputs:

With Automations

Templates can be used in "Create New Model" automations. Each scheduled run generates a fresh workbook based on your template with updated data.

Note: Templates not available for "Update" automations since you're modifying an existing workbook.

With Workflows

Configure templates as either a static parameter (same template every run) or as an input variable (user selects template at runtime).

Note: Templates only for "Create New Excel" workflows, not "Update" workflows.

Tip
Templates and styles are mutually exclusive—you can use one or the other, but not both in the same automation or workflow. Choose templates for exact structure replication, styles for formatting rules.

Design Best Practices

Viete follows spreadsheet design best practices:

  • Clear visual hierarchy with proper headings
  • Consistent formatting throughout the workbook
  • Readable fonts and appropriate cell sizes
  • Meaningful use of colors (not decorative)
  • Proper print area setup for reports
